A Collection of Love StorieS, Circa 2016-2025

by Rue Kruger

first off,

congratulations!

This is a big, beautiful, and slightly chaotic chapter of your life, and I’m here to make sure your memories of it are captured honestly and artfully.

If you’re here, it means you’re looking for a photographer who can capture it with honesty, artistry, and a deep understanding of human connection.

With over 13 years of experience photographing weddings across South Africa and beyond, I take a documentary-meets-editorial approach—blending the raw, unscripted moments with a refined artistic eye. The result? Wedding photographs that don’t just look beautiful but feel real. Photographs that will take you back, not just to how it all looked, but to how it felt.

Take your time exploring my work. If it resonates, let’s connect—I’d love to hear about your vision and create something truly meaningful for you.

Your wedding day isn’t a checklist—it’s a living, breathing story. One filled with real moments, unexpected glances, and the kind of magic that can’t be staged.

- That’s where I come in -

Gentle Direction. Honest Moments -

- I’ll offer clear, gentle guidance during portraits, couple, and family photos—nothing stiff or awkward. Once you’re comfortable, I step aside so you can just be present with each other.

I’m constantly tuned in to emotion and light, always ready for the quiet, unscripted moments that make your day uniquely yours.

I’m constantly tuned in to emotion and light, always ready for the quiet, unscripted moments that make your day uniquely yours.

With over 13 years of experience, I approach weddings with a quiet intuition, knowing when to step in and when to let things unfold. My style is a balance of documentary storytelling and artistic vision—capturing what’s raw, honest, and deeply human. You won’t find stiff poses or forced smiles here. Instead, I focus on the fleeting moments, the in-betweens, the things you might not even notice until you see them frozen in time.

Expect a relaxed, effortless process. I’ll guide you when needed, but mostly, I’ll be there as an observer—documenting your day in a way that feels like you. My goal? To create images that, years from now, pull you right back into the moment—the way it felt, the way it moved, the way it mattered.

“I absolutely love your edgy and unique style, as well as your incredible eye for detail. The photos are absolutely gorgeous—exactly what we had hoped for.

We’ve received so many compliments, and I couldn’t recommend you enough as both a photographer and an artist.

Thank you for capturing our day so perfectly!"

My appoach

I’m not here for stiff poses, forced smiles, or anything that feels like a performance. Anyone can take a pretty picture—but I want more for you. I want to create something that feels real, something that pulls you back into the moment, long after the day is over. The way your fingers intertwine without thinking. The way your eyes meet in a quiet, knowing glance. The way love looks when no one else is watching.

I don’t create for you—I create with you. The big, breathtaking moments. The messy, unexpected ones. The laughter that makes your stomach ache. The fleeting, in-between seconds that say more than words ever could. Your story is uniquely yours, and it deserves to be remembered in the way it was truly lived.

And above all—love is love. This is a space where every love story is welcomed, celebrated, and honored without hesitation. Whoever you are, however you love, you are safe here. I’m grateful to be trusted with your story. Let’s capture it, together.

Are We a Match?

Choosing a wedding photographer is a big decision—it’s not just about the images, but about the experience, the energy, and the connection you have with the person behind the camera. You spend more time with your photographer on your wedding day than almost anyone else (sometimes even more than your new spouse—true story). So it’s important that we click.

If you’re looking for someone to capture carefully choreographed poses, a minute-by-minute shot list, and a perfectly polished version of the day… I might not be the one. And that’s okay. But if you’re drawn to something a little more real—photos that feel like memories, where the wind does its thing, and the emotion leads—I think you’ll feel right at home here.

I work best with couples who value feeling over perfection, who embrace the unpredictable, and who trust me to show up fully and do what I do best. I believe your wedding photos should reflect you—not a Pinterest board, not someone else’s vision, but your story, exactly as it unfolds.

Take a moment to read through my approach and what to expect. If you feel a little spark, I’d love to hear from you. Because when we’re the right match, the whole experience feels effortless—and that’s exactly what you deserve.

This is your day—don’t let other people F* up your vision!

There’s no rulebook, no checklist you have to follow. Choose what feels right for you as a couple, whether that means skipping traditions that don’t resonate with you or creating new ones that do.

If the idea of a first dance makes you cringe, don’t do it. If you want to walk down the aisle together, go for it.

The best weddings are the ones that truly reflect the people at the heart of them. At its core, your wedding is about one thing: the two of you making a commitment to each other.

Everything else—the flowers, the venue, the music—is just the backdrop to that moment. Keeping this in mind will help you stay grounded and avoid unnecessary stress in the lead-up to the big day. If you’re working with a budget, prioritize the vendors that matter most to you. Invest in the things that will bring you the most joy, and let go of the pressure to have everything.

And finally—plan ahead, but don’t overthink. Once you’ve made a decision, trust it. The day will unfold beautifully, even if not everything goes exactly to plan. If your budget allows, a planner or at least an on-the-day coordinator can be invaluable in handling logistics so you can be fully present, soaking in every moment with the people who matter most.
